Three women can win a record-equalling fifth Olympic gold medal in this weekend’s Rowing finals but one can win a sixth.
Romanians Doina Ignat and Georgeta Andrunache were both part of the winning Women's Eight at Athens 2004 and both won their fourth Olympic gold medals.
Both compete again in the Women's Eight final on Sunday, 17 August but Andrunache is also in the final of the Women's Pair on Saturday, 16 August and can therefore win her fifth and sixth golds.
Germany’s Kathrin Boron can also win her fifth Gold medal in Beijing 2008 and will be competing in the Quadruple Sculls final on Sunday, 17 August.
Romania’s Elisabeta Lipa and Great Britain’s Steve Redgrave hold the record with five gold medals.
