Chen Zhong bio and photos: taekwondo

China’s Chen Zhong will go for her third Taekwondo Heavyweight gold on Saturday.

Only six women have previously won an individual event at three Olympic Games.

Dutch woman Anky van Grunsven was the most recent, winning her third gold in Individual Dressage at Beijing 2008.

Chen can become only the 10th athlete to win the first three editions of a specific event at the Olympics.

Only three of the previous nine athletes managed this in an individual event.

The last one to do so in an individual event was Dane Paul Elvstrøm who won Sailing gold in the Finn event in the first three Olympics in which this event was held (1952, 1956 and 1960).

Chen Zhong can become the first female athlete to win the opening three editions of an individual event, according to Infostrada Sports. Here we have her Bio.
